The updated Peugeot 408 has landed in the UAE and wider GCC, with Saudi Arabia to follow later in 2026. The French brand’s distinctive fastback slots into its regional line-up alongside the 2008, 3008 and 5008 SUVs.

Under the bonnet

Power comes from a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder producing 215 hp and 300 Nm, driving the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters. Peugeot quotes 0-100 km/h in 8.8 seconds, a 220 km/h top speed and combined consumption of 6.4 L/100 km.

Allure or GT

  • Allure: 18-inch diamond-cut wheels, 10-inch digital cluster and 10-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • GT: 20-inch wheels, illuminated lion badge, navigation, wireless charging, massaging front seats, Alcantara trim and a power sunroof

The rear features illuminated Peugeot lettering, a first for the brand, and there is a new Flare Green paint colour.

Practical too

Boot space is a generous 536 litres, expanding to 1,611 litres with the rear seats folded. Every version gets adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot detection, lane-keeping assist, a 360-degree camera and six airbags.

UAE pricing has not yet been announced. The 408 will compete with mainstream sedans such as the Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata and Kia K5, offering buyers something more stylish than the usual three-box shape.
