Al-Futtaim announced on 7 September 2026 that owners of selected Toyota and Lexus models in the UAE should check whether their vehicles are affected by the Takata airbag recall. The repair, which replaces the airbag inflator, is free and takes around an hour.

Models named

Toyota:

  • Alphard (2002-2017)
  • Corolla (2003-2010)
  • Sequoia (2002-2017)
  • Yaris (2005-2011)
  • RAV4 (2003-2005)

Lexus (2001-2017): ES350, GX460, IS, LS F, RX and SC430.

A matching model and year does not automatically mean your car is affected, so checking the VIN is essential.

How to check

  1. Find your 17-digit VIN (chassis number) on your Mulkiya, on the dashboard through the windscreen, or on the driver’s door pillar.
  2. Visit the official recall page: toyota.ae/recall for Toyota or lexus-me.com/recall for Lexus.
  3. Enter the VIN exactly as shown and submit.
  4. If affected, book with an authorised Al-Futtaim Toyota or Lexus service centre, or call Toyota UAE on 800-2000. Bring the vehicle and your Mulkiya.

Bought used or imported?

If you own a used Toyota or Lexus, check anyway, since a previous owner may not have had the work done. Cars imported from outside the GCC may not appear in the UAE database; check the recall site for the country where the car was first sold.
