New Tesla Roadster Revealed: Thrusters, Record Claims and a Possible UAE Price
Tesla's long-awaited Roadster arrives with bold acceleration claims and thruster technology, but many details remain unconfirmed.
Tesla’s second-generation Roadster has finally been shown, and the headline claims are as outrageous as promised. A company-reported demonstration run recorded 0-60 mph (96.6 km/h) in 0.81 seconds, a figure that has not yet been independently verified.
Three versions reported
- Performance: two seats, fan-assisted underbody suction and active aerodynamics, with a claimed sub-1.6-second 0-60 mph time
- Thrust: rear-mounted cold-gas thrusters reportedly linked to SpaceX technology, targeting under 0.9 seconds to 60 mph
- Rocket: reportedly an invitation-only single-seater that is not road-legal
Reported top speeds exceed 370 km/h, though final specifications, battery capacity and motor outputs have not been confirmed.
What it could cost in the UAE
Reported starting prices of US$200,000 and US$250,000 translate to roughly AED 734,500 and AED 918,000. Once shipping, customs duty, VAT, insurance and registration are added, one estimate places a landed UAE price for the Thrust version at around AED 850,000 to 890,000. A reported US$50,000 reservation fee equals about AED 183,600.
Timing
Production is reportedly targeted for 2028, but Tesla has not confirmed a delivery date, an official UAE price or a local sales channel for the car. As with previous Roadster announcements, it is wise to treat the timeline with caution.
