UAE Fuel Prices Rise Again in October: Super 98 Reaches AED 4.40
Pump prices climbed by up to AED 0.60 a litre for October, continuing a run of monthly increases since July.
Motorists in the UAE are paying more at the pump again this month. October prices rose by up to AED 0.60 per litre, taking Super 98 to AED 4.40, with petrol grades now ranging from AED 4.21 to AED 4.40 a litre.
How we got here
October’s increase continues a steady climb that began after a sharp cut in July.
| Grade (AED/litre) | July | August | September |
|---|---|---|---|
| Super 98 | 3.40 | 3.60 | 3.80 |
| Special 95 | 3.29 | 3.49 | 3.69 |
| E-Plus 91 | 3.21 | 3.41 | 3.61 |
| Diesel | 3.60 | 3.80 | 4.30 |
September had already brought a AED 0.20 rise on every petrol grade and a AED 0.50 jump for diesel. With October’s increase, Super 98 is now a full AED 1.00 per litre more expensive than in July.
What it means for drivers
For a typical 60-litre tank, filling up with Super 98 now costs about AED 264, compared with AED 204 in July. Drivers covering long distances each week will feel the difference quickly.
Tips to cut your fuel bill
- Check whether your car actually needs Super 98; many engines are designed to run on Special 95
- Keep tyres at the correct pressure, especially in summer heat
- Avoid long idling with the air conditioning running
- If you are shopping for a new car, look closely at hybrid and electric options, whose running costs are less exposed to monthly price changes
